Brisa Builders Development LLC and Glenmore Managers LLC get the green light to start construction on Glenmore Manor

Brooklyn, NY Residents and business owners of Brownsville gathered together with Glenmore Manor Managers LLC to celebrate the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of Glenmore Manor. Brisa Builders Development (BBD) is the leader of the joint venture entity Glenmore Manor Managers LLC. Composed of BBD, African American Planning Commission Inc., and Lemle & Wolff Companies, Glenmore Manor Managers LLC is responsible for the project that will bring affordable housing and economic development to Brownsville.

Ericka Keller, managing member of Brisa Builders, spoke of the importance of including the perspective of the residents in community developments. “Development must be viewed through the lens of the community’ and what their needs are in order to close the gap of racial and economic inequality,” said Keller. “Having grown up in Brownsville, I’m well aware of what the community has lacked for so many years. It’s an honor to be able to give back to the neighborhood that has given me so much. I’m excited to be a part of this phenomenal project.”

From local elected officials to Brownsville-born community organizations and residents, the celebration was well attended. The podium was graced by HPD commissioner Adolfo Carrión, Jr., NY State Senator Roxanne Persaud, council member Sandy Nurse, Deputy Borough president Rev. Kim Council, and Assembly member Latrice Walker, as well as leaders from We Run Brownsville and Central Brooklyn Economic Development Corporation (CBEDC), including CBEDC’s founding executive director, Essie Duggan.

Lashawn Allen-Muhammad, executive director of CBEDC, said, “Langston Hughes asked long ago “What happens to a dream deferred?” and for far too long, Brownsville families have been able to answer by example. This project, Glenmore Manor, will allow Brownsville to see what happens when dreams are realized. And it is an honor and a privilege to be on this journey with the rest of Brownsville.”

“Fusion East is proud to be a part of the Brownsville renaissance, and we will do our best to be an asset to this proud community,” said Andrew Walcott, CEO of Fusion East.

Expected to be completed in December 2025, Glenmore Manor brings Brownsville a mix of 220+ units of affordable, senior, and supportive housing, a publicly run radio station, a health and wellness beauty salon, a fitness center, a trade school, a sit-down restaurant, and 20,000 square feet of community and commercial facilities dedicated to growing community wealth.
