Ericka Keller Wala, born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, truly has a heart for community development and revitalization. Attending school on full academic scholarships and graduating Magna Cum Laude, Ericka earned her Bachelors of Arts, Master of Science and Professional Certification degrees from New York University, Brooklyn College, and the College of St. Rose- Albany, New York, respectively. Prior to joining Brisa Builders Corporation at the passing of the company’s founder, the late Lilly W. Keller, Ericka was the Chief Executive Officer and Principal of a 4 million dollar not-for-prof it (501c3) organization serving the Far Rockaway community of New York City.
In 2004, Ericka’s obtained her realtors license, buying, selling and investing in several residential properties in Long Island, New York. She has received several awards and citations during the course of her career including, NYU Martin Luther King Scholarship and International Ambassador Award, 1997 Who’s Who Among Distinguished Young Americans, 2005 Queens Rotary Club “Unsung Hero” Award, 2010 New York State Senate “Constituent of the Month Award” and 2010/2011 National Association of Professional Women (NAPW) “Woman of the Year Award” and the 2015 Hempstead Mayor Wayne Hall “Woman of the Year Award” and 2016 New York State Chapter of the National Association of Minority Contractors “Emerging Developer of the Year Award” .Upon joining, Brisa Builders Corp., Ericka brought the Berean Apts. project to permanent loan conversion closing in November of 2014 and is currently working on developing over 1,011 units of affordable housing, new construction with community facility and retail space.
